Underground services and trenching.
Overhead lines across a paddock snag machinery and come down in storms. Underground is cleaner and lasts longer, and it's most of what Kayden does on properties: cable in conduit from the house to the shed, the bore, the cottage or the front gate, with the trenching organised as part of the job.

In short
Underground services carry power in buried conduit from the house to a shed, pump, cottage or gate, replacing overhead lines that snag machinery and come down in storms. We design, lay and terminate underground runs around Dungog, Gresford and the Hunter.

The work most people never see is the part that matters: the right size cable for the distance so the voltage holds up at the far end, conduit that protects it, and bedding and marker tape so the next person who digs knows it's there.
What the job involves
- Cable sizing for the distance and the load, so the shed gets full voltage
- Trenching, by Kayden or coordinated with your contractor, to the depth the standard requires
- Orange conduit, sand bedding if the job needs it, and marker tape
- Pits and junctions where runs change direction
- Termination at both ends, with isolation and protection
- Locating existing services before any digging starts
When you need it
- A new shed, cottage, pump or gate that needs power
- An old overhead line that's sagging or has been hit
- A long extension lead that's become permanent
What changes the price
- Distance is the main driver, because it sets the cable size as well as the trench length
- Ground conditions: soil versus rock, open paddock versus driveway crossings
- Whether you're organising the trench or Kayden is
- The load at the far end
What NSW requires
- Underground wiring has to be in approved conduit at the required depth, with mechanical protection and marker tape
- Services must be located before digging. Before You Dig Australia is free and Kayden uses it
- The run is certified with the rest of the installation
What Kayden needs from you to quote
- A rough sketch or satellite screenshot showing the house and where the power needs to go
- What the far end will run
- Whether there's a driveway, creek or rock in the path
Questions about underground services and trenching
How deep does underground cable need to be?
It depends on the cable, the conduit and what's above it, such as a driveway or a paddock. The wiring standard sets minimum depths and protection, Kayden trenches to suit, and marker tape goes in above the conduit.
Do I need Before You Dig before trenching?
Yes, before any digging. Before You Dig Australia is free and shows where existing services run. It's part of how Kayden plans every underground job.
Can I dig the trench myself?
Often, yes. Kayden can tell you the route, depth and width he needs, then lay the conduit and cable and terminate both ends. He checks the trench before anything goes in.
