After hours · Dungog, Gresford & the Hunter

After-hours and emergency call-outs.

Some faults can wait until Monday. A board that won't reset with a freezer full of meat, a burning smell near a switch, a pump down in the middle of a dry spell, or a house with no power and kids in it can't. Kayden takes after-hours and emergency calls across the district.

A call-out fee applies after hours: ask when you call and Kayden will tell you what it is. Ring the number, say where you are and what's happening, and he'll tell you straight whether it's an emergency, whether there's something safe you can do right now, and when he can be there.

What the job involves

  • Making the installation safe first: isolating the faulty circuit so the rest of the house can stay on
  • Fault finding and repair on the spot where parts allow
  • A temporary safe fix and a return visit where a part has to be ordered
  • A clear explanation of what happened and what it means

When you need it

  • A burning smell, smoke, or scorch marks anywhere electrical
  • Sparks or crackling from a switch, outlet or the board
  • The main switch or safety switch won't reset and you've unplugged everything
  • Water in or near electrical fittings after a storm
  • A pump, cold room or essential equipment down

What changes the price

  • The after-hours call-out fee: ask when you ring
  • What's failed and whether it can be repaired on the night
  • Distance from Dungog: travel is charged by distance

What NSW requires

  • If there's smoke or fire, get out and call 000 first, then the electrician
  • If a line is down, stay well clear and call the network provider's emergency number. Fallen lines are theirs, not an electrician's
  • Emergency repairs are certified like any other work

What Kayden needs from you to quote

  • Where you are and the quickest way to find the place in the dark
  • What happened, and whether anything is still smoking, sparking or wet
  • A photo of the board if it's safe to take one
